BACKYARD BASEBALL
FAST-PACED, FUN BASEBALL FOCUSING ON PLAYER AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT
The On Deck Circle Backyard Baseball Program offers a fun, inclusive, and development-focused approach to the game, designed specifically for young athletes of all experience levels. Rooted in the spirit of neighborhood play, this program reimagines traditional baseball into a fast-paced, engaging format that builds skills, confidence, and a love for the game.
SAFE, FEAR-FREE PLAY
Using plastic bats and Kore Baseballs.
EQUAL PARTICIPATION
Rotating positions and smaller teams.
FOCUSED ON FUN
Building skills, confidence, and a love for the game.
Safety and accessibility are at the core of our program.
We use plastic bats and Kore Baseballs, allowing players to learn and play without fear while still developing proper technique. Games are coach-pitch and structured to maximize engagement, with fewer innings, capped runs per inning, and continuous action that keeps players active and reduces frustration.
Our approach emphasizes equal opportunity and involvement.
Players rotate positions so everyone experiences both hitting and fielding, helping them understand all aspects of the game. Smaller team sizes ensure that each child stays engaged, builds hand-eye coordination, and develops teamwork skills. The relaxed rules and supportive atmosphere encourages kids to keep playing, learning and having FUN.
Players learn communication, cooperation, and resilience
in a low-pressure setting where mistakes are part of the experience. Time is also dedicated to building “baseball IQ,” helping players naturally understand game concepts like innings, base running, rules of the game and defensive positioning.
Aligned with youth development principles supported by organizations like USA Baseball, The On Deck Circle Backyard Baseball Program promotes unstructured play as a powerful tool for building coordination, interest, and long-term enjoyment of the sport.
